Project: Custom Stadium Installation

Location: Rutgers High Points Football Stadium, New Brunswick, NJ

Program Scope

When Rutgers University was officially welcomed into the Big Ten Conference in the summer of 2014, the Scarlet Knights and fans worldwide celebrated. As part of that celebration, the school decided to bring a big new look to their stadium to kick-off the new season. After all, Rutgers is the “Birthplace of College Football.”

Like any stadium, Rutgers relies on environmental installations to amplify the messaging of its corporate sponsors and partners. We teamed with America’s biggest sports marketing company, IMG Sports Marketing, to help Rutgers envision, design, develop, and build custom installations that make the best use of space throughout the facility and introduce new advertising opportunities and spaces.

In consulting with Rutgers and IMG, we wanted to make sure that we honored the university’s storied past while stepping forward together into the future. With these new installations in place, Rutgers and IMG maximize ad spend for sponsors and extend the game-day experience for thousands of avid fans.

Approach

Sporting venues are a specialty of ours. So when we got this call, it was like seeing blue sky all the way to the goal line.

After a thorough survey of the facility, we worked closely with Rutgers’ engineers to eliminate or alleviate wind sheer, especially for the large banners we installed at all four entrance gates—North, South, East, and West. With multiple crews working on fabrication, production and installation throughout the site, our team players stayed sure-footed, even when the situation was fluid, and always kept their eyes on the ball.

Given the time constraints of the approaching football season, our team really only had one set of downs to push for the end zone. Included in that campaign were bigger banners on the North and South gates, greater stairwell utilization in the East and West gates. Not to mention sectional signage and work done in both the interior concourses and around the field.

Result

With our help, IMG Sports Marketing and the Rutgers University High Points football stadium were ready for game day. With the aplomb of a mature sports organization who have played many “big games” together, we adapted to challenging and unforeseen situations and still delivered on time.

We appreciate our partnership with IMG Sports Marketing and look forward to more scoring marches down the field together.

“Applied Advertising’s ability to adapt to challenging, unforeseen situations and still deliver on time was impressive and much appreciated.”
